This snug cape house that still stands on Reach Road in Sedgwick was the home of the Edward Payson (1830-1909) and Lois Roberts Cole (1829-1915) family. Edward was the son of Thomas Cole and Judith Bickford and Lois’ parents were Amaziah and Polly Roberts. Edward’s grandfather was Revolutionary War veteran Thomas Herrick Cole.

Edward and Lois were the parents of Edward Clarence Cole born Sept. 27, 1852, Ernest Malcolm Cole born Feb. 15, 1854, Susan Ethel Cole born Dec. 8, 1855 and Judith Laura Cole born Nov. 3, 1866.
