This lovely house is on land originally owned by proprietor Theophilus Eaton and Groves Eaton lived in the home for many years.  It is said that the house was built in1868 by Russell Sargent[1] the husband of Groves’ sister Viletta.

This lovely house is on land originally owned by proprietor Theophilus Eaton and Groves Eaton (1853-1937) lived in the home for many years.  It is said that the house was built in1868 by Russell Sargent[1] the husband of Groves’ sister Viletta.

(Daniel) Groves Eaton married (1) Martha Louise Eaton (born 1856) Nov. 28, 1877 and they had a daughter, Edith D. Eaton in 1881.  Martha Louise died in 1883 and Groves married (2) Bessie G. Wiley (1856-1924) from Boston in 1888. Their children were Horace Boyton Eaton born 1890 and Lawrence Russell Eaton born 1894.  Horace, a lumberman, married Eva J. Smith Dec. 14, 1921. In May 1922 a saw dropped on his hand and fifteen days later June 3, 1922 at the age of 32, he died of septecemia.      Lawrence married  Helen Bates Stone in 1930 and died in 1971.
