Philip Pervear died Oct. 15, 1886 at the age of 107. His 86 year old wife Hannah N. died Oct. 9, 1885 and their son John A. died Oct. 15, 1845 at the age of 19. They are buried in Settler’s Rest cemetery.

Chatto and Turner wrote: “A few years ago in Sedgwick died probably the oldest man in the country, Mr. Philip Pervear, age 106 years 10 months and 7 days. He was born in Hampton Falls, N. H. in 1779. He came to Sedgwick more than 60 years before his death.  During the war of 1912 he was taken prisoner while coming from the West Indies in his vessel.”1
