Note on the post card photo reads, “The citizens of Sargentville and the summer people donated and erected a new flagpole (the old one having rotted out) for Dr. Davies. Dr. Davies (the Reverend) is the man holding child at the left of the picture. This was a dedication. Mrs. Davies is seated in the front.”

This beautiful cottage, named Bonnie Brae, is now part of the Bonnie Brae Trust.

Rev. John R. Davies

Rev. Davies was a Presbyterian minister from Pennsylvania who retired from the ministry in 1887. He was very involved in community activities and was respected by all.

Rev Davies was born in England and brought to the United States, Scranton, Pennsylvania, as a child. He graduated from the Princeton Theological Seminary in 1884 and had a very successful career as a pastor. At the time of his death on March 5, 1919, Rev Davies was survived by his wife Isabelle M. Moffat Davies, and two daughters, Mrs. Charles C. Law of New York and Hester C. Davies; and a son Dr. John H. Davies, Jr.
